Tisbury History Society Summer Event
Summary: Nicolas Shakespeare on Priscilla, an Englishwoman in wartime France
Tisbury History Society is hosting a talk by Nicholas Shakespeare in the delightful surroundings of Ashley Wood Barn. The talk is entitled 'Priscilla' and explores the hidden life of an Englishwoman in wartime France. From the elegant restaurants frequented by the French Gestapo, to the filthy freezing conditions of the internment camp at Besancon, Priscilla saw many sides to the war. Her story asks us to consider what we might do to survive in similar circumstances.
Nicholas Shakespeare is an award-winning author who has been described by the Wall Street Journal as "one of the best English novelists of our time". He was literary editor of the Sunday Telegraph and The Telegraph.
Tickets, which cost £12.50 and include refreshments, can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org as well as from Kate Good, High Street, Tisbury. Ashley Wood Farm is at Fonthill Gifford, Tisbury SP3 6PY.
