Object Identification Surgeries
Summary: At Blandford Museum
Blandford Museum is hosting three Object Identification Surgeries through 2018. The dates are as follows:
- Thursday 29 March
- Thursday 26 July
- Thursday 29 November
All surgeries take place from 10.30am-1pm.
Anyone bringing their find to Blandford Museum will be able to show it to the Finds Liaison Officer and other members of Dorset County Council's Historic Environment team. The team is interested in seeing objects found in fields, gardens or while people are out and about in Dorset. Relevant objects include coins, buckles, brooches and tools, as well as pottery, tile and worked stone.
Finds will be identified and then, depending on their date and type, a decision will be made whether they need to be recorded in more detail.
This is an opportunity for local volunteers, reseachers and metal detectorists to meet team members, drop off and collect finds for identification, discuss their own projects and submit Historic Environment Record enquiries in person.
