Cranborne Youth Theatre |
CYT was started 5 years ago by local music and drama practitioner, Linda Morse, with a group of 20 youngsters ranging in ages from 11-16yrs. The highly successful group has since grown to approx 50 in numbers and has been split into two groups; a Junior Theatre Club (8-11yrs) and seniors (12-18yrs). At present they rehearse in Cranborne Memorial Hall.

Friends of North Dorset Countryside Volunteers |
The group carries out practical conservation work through out North Dorset. No experience is necessary and all projects are free of charge so that you can work at your own pace in a relaxed atmosphere. Most task tools, gloves and tea and coffee refreshments are provided.

UK Villages Community Kitty provides grants of between £50-£500 to a range of community based projects. Breathing Spaces |
Announced on Autumnwatch on 12th November, 2007 grants to the tune of £1 000 - £10 000 are available across the UK to help create more Breathing Places and enhance community involvement in existing ones.
The funding is for specific projects or activities, which might include creating a community wildlife garden, obtaining professional support to advise on wildlife management or training volunteers.
The Breathing Places grants programme hopes to encourage new applicants but even if you received funding in a previous phase you may apply again if you're planning a new project that involves a distinct new group of people.
NB the closing date for applications is Friday 18th January.

A key WWF-commissioned report ranked the 60 cities in the UK by the average ecological footprint of their residents. Salisbury was ranked third with each resident needing an average of 2.79 planets to sustain their lifestyle. Winchester came out bottom needing an average of 3.62 planets (if everyone lived as we do in the UK, we would need an average of three planets to support us).
