Sustainable Development Fund

A fund that awards grants to enable people to find better ways of living and working in the AONB without compromising the legacy of future generations.

Do you have a fantastic idea that has been shelved or that just can't get off the ground for want of some "pump-priming" money and advice? If so, then this might be exactly what you have been looking for. We award grants from as little as £20 to as much as £20,000 for projects within and around the AONB. You can apply on-line or download a form from here along with the guidance notes to assist you in your application. The project should be 'impactful' and potentially fruitful as well as innovative and firmly rooted in the life of the locality. It must also demonstrate a strong link to the management plan. This in no way precludes businesses or individuals from applying for grants, if you are in any doubt as to whether your idea may qualify, then get in touch with us and we can discuss it.

Of course there are criteria that applicants have to meet, but these are designed to give positive direction, not to put barriers around applications. roadly, the criteria are as follows - Projects should:

  • Further the purpose of the AONB in protecting or enhancing natural beauty in its widest sense.

  • Be sustainable against the test of economic, social and environmental development.

  • Have the demonstrable support or involvement of the community.

  • Be complementary to key local, regional and national strategies.

  • Help deliver an objective of the AONB Management Plan.
