The AONB Team administers two grants for which you can apply:

  • the Local Action Fund
  • the Sustainable Development Fund.

The Local Action Fund

The Local Action Fund can make awards of up to about £1,000 for community projects that have the backing or involvement of the Parish Council.

The Sustainable Development Fund

The Sustainable Development Fund is open to business and individuals as well as community groups. It is a grant scheme that supports projects that bring environmental, social and economic benefits to the AONB. This is a simple and open scheme that seeks to foster innovative solutions to the challenges we face in the AONB.

Sowing SEEDS

Sowing SEEDS covers the Community Partnerships Executive North Dorset (CPEND) area of North and East Dorset and the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Together, we secured £2.85 million to improve the economic wellbeing of the area with funding available until the end of 2013. The funding is being delivered through the Local Action Group, a Group that wants to support your project ideas.

For more info, see our SEEDS page, or the main SEEDS Website.

Making an application

You will find application forms and guidance notes within these pages to assist you with your application. You can also look at examples of the type of projects for which grants have been awarded.

In order to make a successful application, you will have to put some time and a good deal of thought into your application. Both these funds are highly competitive and there are more applicants than there are funds to go around each year. If you have a project that you would love to see come to fruition, and would like assistance with your bid, then please get in touch with us for a chat.

To see some examples of funding in our communities, please see the 'Projects' section in our Photo Gallery.
