The AONB Management Plan 2004 - 2009

The Management Plan was formulated over two years of consultation and discussion. In 2002 the Partnership Panel sent out questionnaires to every household in the Area asking people to identify the six issues that were the most important to them. Open meetings were held throughout the Area as well as meetings for land managers and interest groups. At the beginning of 2003 the results of this consultation were brought together in the Issues Conference for the four Working Groups to consider. It was decided that the Management Plan would be organised under three themes of Environment, Rural Economy and Community. During 2003 the Partnership Panel met to consider what actions might arise from the Issues Conference and eight Action Forums were held throughout the Area to give people the opportunity to suggest actions. As a result of this the Working Groups determined the policies and actions contained in the Plan.

You can download the Management Plan from this page and throughout the text you will notice quotations from the suggestions that were made by the people who live and work within the Area.
